2019 - Mia Fussell, Connor Mann, Georgina Patient

Mia Fussell is the niece of Lisa Fussell (1978).  She will be graduating from Plant High School in Tampa, Fl. She is the Senior Class Treasurer, an Executive Board Member of the Student Council, and a Senior Committee Member. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and Beta Honor Society. Mia also participates in the Anchor Service Club, SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions), and is Vice President and a mentor in Why Define Us, a club in which high school students mentor middle school students.  Mia is a member of the Plant High School Danceros, a dance team that participates in school and community events, including the 2018 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. In the community, she has worked with the Tampa Bay Humane Society, Tampa Junior League, Teens for Haiti, Metropolitan Ministries, and OASIS (Outreach Assisting Students in Schools). Mia has also participated in various cancer fundraisers, including Relay for Life and the Children's Cancer Center Fall Stamped Fundraiser. She has been selected to the Plant High School Hall of Fame by the faculty and was the Senior Class Homecoming Queen. Mia will be attending Florida State University where she will major in Psychology, and will then pursue a career as a Psychologist. 

Connor Mann is the son of Joni Mann (1978) and nephew of Cindy Abrahamson (1968). He will be graduating from Largo High School. Connor is a Member and Captain of the Varsity Soccer Team. He is also a member of Mu Alpha Theta and the Math Competition Team, which placed second in the State in 2018. Connor is the only high school student working as a University of South Florida Research Intern, where he has designed and conducted experiments in ant behavior at the biological research lab. In the community, Connor volunteers for the Ryan Neece Foundation, which works on monthly service projects, including the clean-up in the Florida Keys after Hurricane Irma. He is a camp counselor for the Anona Child Center. Connor has done work for the Foundations of Computer Science Program in which he co-authored and implemented a programming curriculum for 5th Graders interested in Computer Science. As part of this program, he presented the program to Pinellas County School's STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) conference to an audience of 3000 faculty members and parents.  The curriculum is now part of the Anona Elementary after-school program. Connor is a National Merit Scholar and the 2019 Largo High School International Baccalaureate Valedictorian. He will attend Yale University and major in Computer Science.  

Georgina Patient will be graduating from Largo High School, where she was a Cellist in the Golden Strings Orchestra and Silver Strings. She is Vice-President of the Senior Class and is class representative for both Student Government and the 2019 International Baccalaureate Class. Georgina is a member of the National, Art, History, English, and French Honor Societies. She is also a member of the Junior State of America Club and Badminton Club. Georgina is co-founder and Vice-President of WE (Women's Equality, Empowerment, and Education) Club. In the community, she volunteers for Suncoast Hospice Palm Harbor, and is co-coordinator of the Middle School Collaborative Orchestra Project, a mentor program helping middle school students acclimate to high school life, while encouraging the continuation of music education. Georgina is a dual citizen with Great Britain, so she was also a summer intern with a Queen's Counsel Barrister at an international law firm in London (examined cases pertaining to post-colonial British-Kenyan relations). She was also a State Finalist for a documentary submitted for National History Day in 2017, and selected as a delegate for Florida Girls State 2018.  Georgina will attend Florida State University as a Presidential and Honors Legal Scholar, and plans to become an international human rights lawyer or barrister.
